At Java, the project on productivity improvement and organisational development led to higher productivity in the warehouse, shorter driver start/stop times and transparent, centralised administration.

As we have come to the end of the Vocum project, we would like to thank the Vocum team for the positive and professional contribution made to our company over the past months.

Together with you, we have achieved a large number of points; the most important ones we summarise:

  • A new communication structure and a new reporting structure were developed, from the shop floor to the management — for example, operational problems and improvements are now discussed in a structured way on a daily basis, with concrete actions planned and followed up.
  • The supervisors on the shop floor showed insufficient leadership behaviour. Classroom training using role play tailored to the supervisors' needs, as well as on-the-job coaching, has enabled them to work proactively and to manage, follow up and assess their people better.
  • A staff planning tool was developed based on realistic standards and forecast workload. As a result, supervisors plan staff in a very cost-conscious way, which has a direct impact on productivity.
  • The involvement of the people on the floor has been greatly increased by having them make improvement proposals themselves and implementing a large part of them. This also leads to an improvement in job satisfaction.
  • Integration of administrative work within the logistics department, so that the work there can be carried out quickly and efficiently.
  • Employee evaluation methods have been implemented; supervisors have been trained in this and coached in practice.

The end result of the project is an increase in productivity in the warehouse, a reduction of drivers' start/stop times, and administrative work made transparent and centralised. In addition to better cooperation between departments, there is a positive change in behaviour among supervisors and individual employees.

The agreed minimum guarantee (project costs) on a weekly basis was realised from week 14 of the project.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Vocum for helping us realise the improvements within our organisation.
